Solution Streams:
Developing Possible Experiments for Change

The Solution Stream at the FORGE 2023 conference consisted of a series of workshops grounded in futures- and design-thinking methods. The goal of this workshop series was to (1) develop relationships across conference participants, and (2) develop early ideas for Experiments for Change. The conference participants were grouped into the (4) thematic areas, with 15-35 people in each room.

  • Activity / Prompt: In small groups, share a short summary of your issue area (~4 minutes each) introducing your topic, what you hope to learn and how you hope to evolve your work while at FORGE 2023. Then explore different frames to expand your thinking around your topic.

  • Activity / Prompt: Explore creative modes of communication and expression to evolve the way you approach your issue area, including poetry, visual art, and the use of metaphor.

  • Activity / Prompt: Explore experiments for change across three time horizons: the present, the near future, and the far future. This will include exploring collaborations across your work.

  • Activity / Prompt: Synthesize your experience and learning. What are you taking away from the meeting, and what do you hope might happen next?
